Back when the world sat listening to the tunes of dial-up internet and dreading the impending doom of Y2K, we were coding innovative websites and entering the digital age head-on. Now we’re rewinding the VHS tape to celebrate the 25 trips around the sun since thunder::tech dropped into the marketing scene.
Along the way we’ve received an inquiry or two about what goes on over on Perkins Avenue and we think it’s about time we let you in on the elements that make our agency uniquely ours. We’ve compiled a snapshot of some company milestones, how we evolved alongside the digital world and inside t::t lingo to give you a glimpse into our world over the past 25 years.
We invite you to peak behind the curtain and find an easter egg or two hidden amongst the most important events to shape thunder::tech. Without further ado – the class of 1999:
Blackberry: In 2007, we designed our first mobile site for a Fortune 100 company specifically optimized for Blackberry’s trackwheel.
Midtown: Where our energetic and dynamic office has lived since 2004.
Time Machine: One of our prized possessions is the
thunder::tech time machine, although it did lead to a Viking taking over the office. You should ask about it sometime.
1,300: Our team is full of subject matter experts and thought leaders and we love sharing those insights with our audience. During our 25 years,
we’ve posted over 1,300 blogs!
2016: Our first social media command center was deployed for the Cleveland Host Committee at the Republican National Convention.
Chicago Bean: Opened in 2016, our
Chicago office sits conveniently in the North Loop, a block from the river.
Howdy: While we fully embrace our Midwestern roots, “howdy” has always been our favorite way to just say “hey”!
2018: We were recognized as
Kentico’s site of the year in their "Best Business Services Site" category for our work with
National Food Group.
Floppy Disk: Not everyone here may remember or have even used a floppy disk, but once upon a time, we used to save our sites to one of these before launching them into the world.
2021: We were proud to be named the official website partner of
USA Track and Field – overhauling their website for the national organization and 56 of their State and regional chapter sites.
Paw Print: We love our furry (and scaly) friends, so much so that we have an entire wall dedicated to all our team members’ pets. If you're lucky, a pup or two may be walking around the office on your next visit.
2023: We acquired
Silent Partners Media Group, a New York City-founded digital agency.
